Okay class. Open up your math book to page 346 and 347. Now, I want you to get blank lined paper and work on the problems. When you are done with that just take out your book and read.

Ted and Tedd both raised their hands to ask Ms. Beach when pet day was coming up.

Yes, Ted do you have a question about the question you are working on?

The Terror of Kansas

The Terror of Kansas

It was 1:00 am on a warm spring Wednesday, and it was storming outside. Casey was sleeping in her bed when she was awakened by a loud blast. It was the tornado siren. Just then her parents came in and said, “Grab your pillow and one thing you want to save!”

She decided to grab her dog who was sleeping in her room because she could replace everything else but not a living thing. Then she heard a loud crash and ran downstairs with her trembling dog in her arms. When they were all downstairs, they started listening to the weather radio. The weather man said that an F5 tornado was heading straight for Silver Lake Trailer Park, and, unfortunately, that was where Casey lived. Soon Casey could hear the loud rumbling noise of things being thrown this way and that. The basement door was shaking like a giant was trying to get it open. She put the pillow over her head and tried to forget what happened.

Many of Casey’s things were blown away- her bed, dresser, bookshelves, books, and the paintings her grandma gave her. Some of her books were found far away from her house and her broken dresser was found a half mile away. Thankfully, her dog and her family were okay, but many neighbors were not.

The tornado had only lasted for 20 minutes. So much had been lost in this terrible storm. Casey felt she would never be the same. She knew she would always remember the night that Mother Nature showed her destructive powers- the night Casey called Kansas Terror.

THE END

Puppies and Pie

They get on with life as a veterinarian
They're a beautiful kinda type
They like soccer and swimming
They like to contemplate puppies
But when they start to daydream
Their mind turns straight to pie.

Sometimes I look at them and I look into their eyes,
I notice the way they think about pie with a smile,
Curved lips they just can't disguise.
But they think it's puppies making their life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for them to decide which they love more?
Puppies or... Pie?

They like to use words like 'awesome' and 'super.'
They like to use words about puppies
But when they stop their talking
Their mind turns straight to pie.

Sometimes I look at them and I look into their eyes
I notice the way they think about pie with a smile
Curved lips they just can't disguise
But they think it's puppies making their life worthwhile
Why is it so hard for them to decide which they love more?
Puppies or... Pie?

They like to hang out with Katie and Daniela
But when left alone, their mind turns straight to pie
They hate wasp nests and getting sun burnt
But they just think back to pie
And they're happy once again.

Sometimes I look at them and I look into their eyes
I notice the way they think about pie with a smile
Curved lips they just can't disguise
But they think it's puppies making their life worthwhile
Why is it so hard for them to decide which they love more?
Puppies or... Pie?

Compassion: A poem

Compassion
A poem by: Sophia

Compassion is the color of a warm sunset

It’s always there in a mourning cry or a loved one’s death

It looks like an orange sky above the horizon

And it makes me feel kindhearted

It sounds like the heartbeat of a loved mother

It smells like a beautiful scent of a rose

It feels like a warm and furry puppy

It seems like a bright and shiny moon

No matter how bad your life will be

There will always be this happy thought

As long as you have your family and friends

You’ll feel safe and respected in your own world

Because compassion is always by your side

And you’ll never feel alone
